A well-known lifestyle magazine in St. Petersburg created the "What's Where in St. Petersburg" award to unite the restaurant industry with its visitors: the winners are chosen not by industry professionals, but by the guests of the restaurants - those who order breakfast, lunch and dinner in restaurants day after day.

We present you this selection because we think that it demonstrates places that are truly popular among regular locals, like us for example.
Water & food – "Cruise by Kuznya House"
A two-deck ship with day and night music, dancing and salon evenings with a German cabinet piano.
Breakfast includes eggs, brioche with guacamole, croissants. The cruise has a full menu with oysters, scallops, crudo, vegetable appetizers and hot meals from chicken broth, fish and schnitzel to tacos and hot dogs.
From 10 to 12, admission is free - the ship is docked and you can eat breakfast there.

A Basque restaurant where a cocktail bar competes with the reinterpreted gastronomy of northern Spain. While chef Vladimir Goryuyakov prepares marmitaco soup and cod pils with lime, bartender Vitaly Severinov mixes more than a dozen single gin and tonics - with apple or lavender, cranberry or green grape

Every day visit – "Moyka 3"
The restaurant of high Russian cuisine from the "Banshchiki" team in the Round Market building, which had been opened in September 2019, was transformed by the fall of 2020. There is a new comfortable entrance, and chef Stanislav Levokho has reorganized himself into comfort food - chicken schnitzel with kim chi cucumbers, Asian eggplant fries, and bagels with shakshuka for breakfast

Wine bar – "Merula. Wine Yard"
The Merula wine project, familiar to the city from its establishments on Mayakovsky Street and Yakhtennaya Street, opened its branch in a five-star location. Their third location is a courtyard within walking distance of both the Hermitage and the Marble Palace. Vintage and chinquecento portraits, natural wines and pro-Italian gastronomy are responsible for the atmosphere of the place.

Famous terrace – "FUTURA"
The bistro in Lenpoligrafmash seems to have no terrace in its usual sense, just planking down steps with attached trays and a couple of tables with benches under an umbrella. But the geo-tag "Futura" gathers almost terabytes of photos from these very steps - so popular are the local pastries and brunches with grilled cheese sandwiches.

National – "Saviv"
Chef Antonio Fresa, who's fully deployed in the Israeli bistro, is now doing his own morning superhits: pita with egg and avocado, shakshuka, eggs benedict with red caviar, croissant with scrambled egg and salmon, and ricotta casserole - the latter always comes with different seasonal berries and fruits

From farm to table – "Commons"
Many farms are located in the Leningrad region. The smaller the production, the more attention is paid to the product and the higher the quality," Commons is convinced. In addition, the team pays attention to waste minimization and separate garbage collection.
Commons is a restaurant not only about food, but also about wine. The wine list echoes the menu and supports the idea of product from small farms from around the world.

Open kitchen – "The Sizzle"
Open kitchen, panoramic windows, laconic furniture made of natural materials, brass chandeliers. The menu is dominated by European dishes, but among the starters, snacks and meat you can find several items of Kazakh cuisine: baursaki, horse meat kebab and marinated ribeye.

Asian – "Duo Asia"
The menu has several sections: "Ceviche and Snacks, Dumplings and Bao, Noodles and Soup, Poke and Taco, Meat and Fish, Vegetables and Seafood, with at least five items in each. The guys from the project team emphasize that they did not try to make the dishes authentic. The menu includes not only Asian specialties like sashimi, bao, dim sum, and noodles, but also Latin American ceviche, poke, tacos, and tartare. The prices here are very reasonable and there is an excellent selection of wines. Reservations are a must.

New flavors – "Ultramen"
A cyberpunk-style Asian eatery by Vladimir Nikolaev and Ivan Lyashuk (creators of "Room and a Half," "Tsvetochki," "Taks"). The menu is based on homemade noodles: egg noodles, udon noodles and ramen noodles. The dough is rolled with a giant bamboo rolling pin and served with Japanese curry, tom yam, or pork strips

Russian cuisine– "Banshсhiki"
The interior and menu of the restaurant create the atmosphere of a cozy country house with a bathhouse. In Here they cure and smoke fish and meat, bake several kinds of bread, make homemade tinctures. Shashliks and steaks are cooked over charcoal - they are served with "smoke" and a golden crust.

Meat – "Blok"
The restaurant "Blok" is located in Tavrichesky Garden, on the roof of "Leningrad Center". Its concept - on the one hand the cuisine of Russian provinces, on the other hand the highest quality meat produced in Russia, which by many parameters surpasses some existing foreign analogues.

Dishes are prepared according to both traditional and modern recipes and the meat is the most diverse - more than 60 dishes from veal cheeks to numerous steaks, about half of which you can try only in "Blok".

Vegetables – "Harvest"
The restaurant, which opened at the very end of 2018, has already made the top list of The World's 50 Best Restaurants. Dmitry Blinov is in charge of the cuisine; under his direction, vegetables are prepared in a variety of ways, and the menu, which is updated every season, includes grilled meat and fish. The appetizers and hot dishes on Harvest's menu are divided into "Vegetables Only" and "Not Only Vegetables. The first part features new variations on cabbage, broccoli and tomatoes. The second part features bright and sometimes unexpected combinations of flavors: scallops and foie gras, goitered gland and truffle, smoked salmon and strachatella.
The first floor is devoted to the main hall and the open kitchen; the second floor is conceived as a place for dinners, meetings, and master classes.

Creativity – "Birch"
The Birch restaurant has become one of the main places of pilgrimage for food lovers in a short period of time with almost no advertising.
The atmosphere and interior are Nordic: concrete, natural wood, steel, and the spotlight so beloved by bloggers.
The menu is only one sheet, but everything is clear and to the point. Starters, appetizers, soups, pastas, main courses, desserts - European cuisine with Asian accent. If you don't want to choose, there are tasting sets from the Chef. There is also a second tasting room with an open kitchen.

Comfort dining – "Bourgeois Bohemians"
The concept offers a combination of classic French base with local products and author's performance of dishes. In addition to a la carte they offer seasonal and thematic sets. «BoBo»'s principle is to select unique food combinations with wines from small producers. The menu is dynamic and constantly changing, as is the wine accompaniment.
Here they work only with small farms that make terroir wines that characterize the place where the grapes were grown.

Sushi – "Under The Sea"
The concept of Under The Sea restaurant completely echoes the traditional rules of cooking in Japan, where the main task of the chef is to preserve the pure taste of the original product. So, in rolls, sushi, sashimi and other dishes of the menu there will never be too contrasting and distracting combinations of products and sauces, and the taste of fresh fish and seafood will become a pleasant dominant feature of the whole dinner. For the summer period the restaurant opened a small veranda, so guests can sit with their favorite dishes in the fresh air.

Alcohol boutique – "Wine & Dine"
On Petrogradskaya Naberezhnaya, a stone's throw from the Aurora cruiser, there is the Krupeinikov mansion, where the "Wine & Dine" project is located. It includes a wine bar "Località" and an alcoholic boutique "Sabonis". Località is one of the city's largest wine bars, offering an almost unlimited selection. There are 2,000 wines available for the price of a store shelf. The bar menu is clear and simple Italian classics with an emphasis on wine appetizers. On the second floor there is Sabonis alcohol boutique with a spirits area and a wine room with ideal conditions for wine storage. In the left wing of the second floor there is the Russian Winemaking Hall, among a huge selection of which everyone can find something to his/her liking and, most importantly, discover Russian wine.

Neobistro – "Meal"
If you find yourself on Liteyny, you should go to the trendy neobistro “Meal", where you can have a high-level gastronomic experience in a democratic and natural atmosphere at bistro prices. Neobistro format is a kind of symbiosis of author's cuisine and regular French bistro, without stiff interior and obliging atmosphere. Using regional products and seasonal menu updates allows to keep prices on a democratic level, and blend of high cuisine technologies with local culinary traditions and author's approach guarantee the guests a unique experiment in taste. Unusual appetizers, appetizing second courses and photogenic desserts are available in laconic menu. The staff will help to make a successful wine pairing.

Breakfast – "Dreamers"
For breakfast in St. Petersburg it is worth booking a table in advance at the gastronomic cafe "Dreamers". Tender cheesecakes, first-class coffee and hearty toast are available here until 14:00. For those who like unusual combinations there are non-trivial options: pancakes with cone sauce, omelette with venison, cheesecakes with salmon and artichoke sauce, for instance. For the rest of the time the guests are offered great author's cuisine, view on Fontanka embankment and huge choice of wine.

Food hall – Vasileostrovskiy Market

It is located in two market buildings that are part of the historic Andreevsky Market building complex. In the food court space you can find corners with a variety of dishes, there are many mono-projects that specialize in one thing. Among the most popular spots are Eggsellent with its delicious and generous breakfasts, the coffee house "Man and steamer" with aromatic specialty coffee, fresh pastries by "Ôpetit", Instagram cakes and cupcakes Cake me tender and Israeli bistro "SAVIV". It's better to come very hungry to try it all :)

Pan-asian – "Jungle Cafe"

The cozy atmosphere of the Summer Garden creates a feeling of complete peace and relaxation. This place has earned the title of local greenhouse. Modest wooden furniture looks harmonious against the background of lianas, palms, ferns and other tropical plants.

The menu is full of pan-Asian cuisine.

You can order great toast with avocado and poached egg, airy cheesecakes or açai bowl.

Street food – Shawarma with beluga and caviar
Once invented for the gastrofestival during the pandemic, when everything worked for delivery, the dish became such a megahit that it became "legendary" in the post-quarantine menu. The pita is wrapped in birchwood-smoked beluga from Art Caviar, plus vegetables, wasabi sauce, and salted pink salmon caviar.

Chef Ruslan Zakirov, a recognized master of vegetable dishes, put together on one plate tomatoes of different colors - sweet red, yellow, and cherry tomatoes marinated in soy sauce with sesame and olive oils - and framed them with hummus of young green edamame beans, mint, tarragon, and white pepper

New Pizza – Pasto Fresco
In the kitchen of Pasto Fres Co you can find a charismatic couple of Chef Maurizio Peccolo and Pizza Chef Renato Pinelli, who, as it is customary in his native Italy, is never in a hurry. He takes his time and infuses the dough not for 12, but for the whole 48 hours - so it gets digested in the body faster. The menu includes classic combinations of chicken with pesto, tuna with onions, ham and mushrooms, parma with sun-dried tomatoes and a hit pizza with strachatella and paprika sauce, which is impossible not to come back for.

Specialty cocktail – Bloody Mary
The year it took to find balance in this cocktail was not in vain: 1200 servings a month are now mixed. The secret is both in the flavors found and in the serving: the Bloody Mary is spectacularly poured, fumigated, and accompanied by a set of marinades. Plus, the drink is brought out in a decanter, and the company of guests can take a liter at once and pour it into shot glasses
